Dossier. Check.
Last week we officially finished our dossier. So many months of hard work and preparation compiled into one little manila envelope. I have to admit, I felt sick to my stomach taking it to the UPS store to have it sent out. It’s such a bizarre feeling working SO hard on something, something that will affect your family and your future in such a huge way – and then to just ship it off. I almost wish I could personally escort it to Ethiopia and then hand deliver it to the folks over there! Ha! It’s out of our hands now!
We hired The Assistant Stork to take our documents to the US Department of State and then onto the Embassy. Right now, it’s at the Embassy in D.C. and should be getting the approval stamp tomorrow. From there it will be sent back to our agency who will then ship the documents to Ethiopia. Unfortunately, court will be closed for three weeks in Ethiopia – so we’ll have to continue waiting patiently for our documents to be translated and submitted.
It’s so surreal that things are now out of our hands. When we were working on our dossier, it felt good to be actively doing something. Now we just wait. Wait, and pray.
One fantastic blessing is that we were able to send our darling little girl her first gift from mommy and daddy! We sent a mini giraffe pillow pet and a laminated picture of all of us. On the back of the photo we told her how much we love her and that we’re so excited to bring her home soon. The nannies will post the picture above her crib so she will get to see her daddy, mommy, brothers and sister. I love that. So much.
Please continue to pray for favor as we move into this next step of our adoption journey. For favor with the courts, paperwork, and all that goes into these next few months. And please continue lifting up our baby girl as you pray. The amount of love we already have for this little one is incredible. Aching to have her in my arms.

Oh wow, I bet you wanted to crawl in the box with that toy! That is so wonderful that you got to send your girl a gift. I hope they tell her all about her new family! I’m sending many prayers for you and your new daughter. I hope this next phase of paperwork goes smoothly for you. We want this girl home soon! Take care, we’re always thinking about you guys. Best wishes ~Cara
Thanks so much, Cara! Sure ready to get over there to see her. Soon.
